The Dryden GM Ice Dogs outshot the Sioux Lookout Bombers 29–17 on Saturday night but could not solve goaltender Stanislav Stefaniv in a 6–0 loss at the Dryden Memorial Arena.
Jaxon Nicol opened the scoring with 26 seconds left in the first period. Dominique Fortin
doubled the Bombers’ lead midway through the second, sending Sioux Lookout into the final
period ahead 2–0.
The Dryden GM Ice Dogs continued to generate chances, putting 12 shots on goal in the
second period and nine more in the third. Sioux Lookout, however, scored four times in the final
frame. Tyson Carter struck 48 seconds in, followed by goals from Tate Rigel, Fortin and Cooper
Labelle.
Fortin finished with two goals, while Nicol had a goal and two assists. Stefaniv stopped all 29
shots for the shutout. Silas Dromarsky made 11 saves for Dryden. Neither team scored on the
power play; the Dryden GM Ice Dogs went 0-for-7 and the Bombers 0-for-2.
The Dryden GM Ice Dogs return to action Saturday, October 3, on the road against the Red
Lake Miners.
