Walleye Storm Back For OT Win

Friday night was the first of a 3 game series between the Kam River Fighting Walleye and the Red Lake Miners. Eric Vanska would start for the Walleye while Jaxson Taupert would get the nod for the Miners.

Miners would get on the board first at 12:43 of the first period when Kyle Schechtel notched his first goal in the SIJHL.

Second period action would see the Miners get goals from Aaron Bertschinger and Jacob Lamoureux for a 3-0 lead before the Walley would get one from Holden Woodcroft.  After 40 minutes the score is 3-1 for the Miners.

Third period action was fast and furious. Quitin Sidaway and Evan Maslack would both score their first SIJHL goals to give the Miners a 5-1 lead with 13 minutes to go.  Then the collapse started.  Euan Morrison and Anthony Oviedo would score 12 seconds apart for a 5-3 score then Ethan Lang and Carson Gorst would score to tie the game at 5 with 7 minutes to go.

Tied after 60 minutes this game went to 5 minute of 3 on 3 Overtime.  Woodcroft would beat Taupert at 2:29 for a 6-5 win.
