Miners Blast Walleye

Following a third period collapse Friday the Red Lake Miners looked to regroup and put in a better effort on Saturday night at the Cochenour Arena. Jack Orchard would get the start for the Walley while Jack Osmond would start for the Miners.

Kam River would get on the board first courtesy of Simon Bienvenue whose shot from the point beat Osmond for his first SIJHL goal and a 1-0 lead.  Miners could not capitalize on a couple power plays during the first.  Miners would out shoot the Walleye 15-10 in the period but trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes.

Second period action had Colton Crysler scored against his former team his 4th of the season to tie the game at one. Jacob Lameroux banked on off Orchard at 3:32 to give the Miners the lead.  Mason Mowat would score his first SIJHL goal finishing off a nice passing play with Schechtel and Maslack to make it 3-1 at 5:25. Lamoureux would score his second of the period with and unassisted effort at 13:15.  Colton Hlavay scored his first SIJHL goal beating Orchard with a backhand that ended Orchard’s night.  Miners outshoot the Walleye 16-10 in the period and lead 5-1 after 40 minutes.

After blowing a 4 goal lead Friday night the Miners weren’t about to duplicate the Friday result.   Jacob Lameroux would complete the hat trick using his speed to get in close and slide it past Vanska for his 7th of the season.  Aaron Bertschinger would score for the second straight night  at 10:53. Evan Maslack would score back to back to round out the scoring at 15:42 and 18:59.  Miners outshoot the Walleye 11-2 in the period.

Final Score Miners 9 Walleye 1.

Jack Osmond sipped 21 of 22 for his second win.
