Tymkin; Robertson leads Lakers past Iron Rangers

HOYT LAKES, Minn. –  The Fort Frances Lakers got three points apiece from Cole Tymkin and Dylan Robertson to help lead them to a 5-3 victory over the Minnesota Iron Rangers Saturday in a Superior International Junior Hockey League contest at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

Fort Frances started strong in this one jumping out to a 2-0 first period lead on markers by Tymkin and defenceman Nick Minerva.

Tymkin made it 3-0 midway through the game before Minnesota got on the board thanks to a power play effort off the stick of Tristan Knott.

Dan Sarnecki then brought the home side closer making it a 3-2 score after two periods of play.

After Dalton Johnson struck shorthanded for Minnesota and Robertson countered at even strength for Fort Frances, Dylan Kooner iced it for the Lakers with an empty netter at 19:24 to round out the scoring.

Fort Frances outshot the Iron Rangers on the night 33-28 with Brandon Bodnar picking up the win and Kyle Carignan the loss.
