Special teams highlighted in Minnesota’s win over Dryden

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – The Minnesota Iron Rangers doubled up the Dryden GM Ice Dogs 8-4 in Superior International Junior Hockey League play Friday at Hoyt Lakes Arena in a game that featured six power play goals and two more coming short handed.

Evan Erickson, Matt O’Dea and Thomas Fazio each tallied twice for the Iron Rangers and also added assists while Quinn Mischke and Alex Rezansoff supplied single markers.

Erickson’s opening goal of the game came just six seconds after the opening face-off.

Derek McPhail with a pair along with markers from Troy Williams and Blake Berg countered for Dryden.

Jason Reynolds doled out three assists to aid Minnesota offensively with Kyle Pouncy doing likewise for the GM Ice Dogs.

Minnesota outshot Dryden 43-33 overall on the night with Devin Tappenden picking up the win and Tate Sproxton the loss.
