North Stars’ Gardiman named Gongshow Gear Inc. performer of the month for November

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that Thunder Bay North Stars forward Matthias Gardiman has been named the Gongshow Gear Inc. performer of the month for November.

In 10 games during the month that was the 19-year-old Thunder Bay native amassed some impressive point totals for the North Stars averaging two points-per-game.

His overall efforts in November included a total of 20 points on 10 goals and as many assists.

Gardiman also produced two hat-tricks, a game-winning tally, along with a pair of shootout markers, in as many opportunities.

Included in that was a superb three-goal performance, plus one more in the shootout, as the North Stars snapped the record setting 15-game winning streak of the league-leading Fort Frances Lakers back on Nov. 19 winning 5-4 on home ice in  extra shots that was followed after a scoreless five-minute overtime session.

On the season Gardiman sits fourth in the SIJHL in point-per-game average at 1.60 and is tied for sixth in overall league scoring with 32 points on 16 tallies and as many assists.

He is also tied for the lowest penalty minute total in the SIJHL among those skaters who have played a minimum of 20 games so far this season at two.

The North Stars forward is furthermore closing in on personal SIJHL career single-season highs in goals, assists, and points set in 2012-13 with 18, 19 and 37 respectively.

Gardiman will be recognized on-ice prior to an upcoming home game with a gift pack courtesy of Gongshow Gear Inc., the SIJHL’s official lifestyle hockey apparel partner.

Also receiving consideration for the Gongshow Gear performer of the month award were Mason Meyer, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Jason Reynolds, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Chris Sitco, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs; Brendan Wilde, (F) English River Miners and Nick Minerva, (D) Wisconsin Wilderness.
