Lakers No. 5 in final CJHL rankings; North Stars 15th

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced its final set of top 20 rankings for the 2013-14 season with the Superior International Junior Hockey League’s Fort Frances Lakers and Thunder Bay North Stars being listed among the top ranked clubs that comprise the 128-team CJHL.

Fort Frances finished fifth overall in the final tabulations while Thunder Bay was tabbed 15th in the CJHL rankings, which were based in conjunction with NHL Central Scouting.

The Lakers earlier wrapped the SIJHL’s regular season title and will be the No. 1 seed leading into the playoffs.

With one game remaining Fort Frances sports a league-best 45-6-2-2 record with 94 points.

As for the North Stars, they’ll be the No. 2 seed in the postseason having gone 38-10-1-4 so far amassing 81 points with three games to play.

The No. 1 ranked team in the CJHL is the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Rounding out the top five in the final CJHL rankings of 2013-14 are the Selkirk Steelers (MJHL), Carleton Place Canadians (CCHL) and Spruce Grove Saints (AJHL) who were listed second through fourth respectively.
