Lakers’ Comeback Secures Victory

Spooner, WI – Fort Frances fought through a slow start and rallied for a 5-4 victory on Friday night in Wisconsin.

The Lumberjacks wasted no time when the game started scoring 2 goals in the first 2 minutes. The 1st came off the stick of Marshall Thomas with an assist going to Simon Davidson. The 2nd was from Sutton Majeske with helpers going to Xavier Tholl and Axel Wyatt. Fort Frances would 

stabilize and find their 1st goal courtesy of Brady Krentz halfway through the period. 

The two teams would battle for the rest of the 1st and 8 minutes into the 2nd before the Lakers tied the game at 2. Clark Scadden beat the goaltender to bring his team back level. 4 minutes later Wisconsin would reclaim their lead thanks to a tally from captain Dillon Phillips. Wisconsin would carry the 1 goal lead into the final frame.

Fort Frances would take control of the game for good thanks to 3 straight 3rd period goals. Jack Wood scored the 1st and 3rd goals with Brady Krentz scoring his 2nd in between. The scores gave the Lakers a two goal lead and although Kaden Postal pulled one back in the later stages Fort Frances would win 5-4. Lukas Toth made 34 saves in goal for the Lakers and got the win. Rylan Freshwater stopped 24 of 29 in a losing effort.
