Lakers announce roster moves

FORT FRANCES, Ont. — The Fort Frances Lakers of the SIJHL announced the following roster moves:

The addition of 19-year-old defenseman Sam Schultz.

Schultz, who hails from Hartland, Wis., is an good-skating, puck moving defenseman that will add some offensive production to the back end.

In order to bring Schultz Fort Frances made the following deletions from their roster:

The club released goaltender Stirling Wright.

“It was a tough decision, but with our import situation, we feel we had to make this move,” stated Lakers head coach and general manager Wayne Strachan.

“Stirling has worked hard, had a good attitude and played well when called upon in the preseason,” added Strachan.

“We will look to help find Stirling a home in the CJHL.

“The also release of D-man Brandon Janveau.

“Bringing in Schultz presented us with nine defenseman and we have decided to let Brandon go,” said Strachan.

“We have a deal in place that would send him to a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) team or we will look at other options for Brandon to further his development as a player. Brandon plays a tough rugged style and we like that part of his game.”
