Iron Rangers top Miners

EAR FALLS, Ont. – Matt O’Dea and Noah Anderson both tallied twice while Evan Erickson doled out four assists to help lift the Minnesota Iron Rangers to a 5-3 victory over the English River Miners Friday night in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Ear Falls Arena.

After Anderson put the visitors in front 12:41 into the opening period, English River responded with power play markers by Dominic Blouin and Ian Bablitz to go up 2-1 through 20 minutes.

Anderson evened things up for the Iron Rangers in the second, near the same point of his effort in the first, to make it 2-2.

The Miners regained the lead at 14:36 of the middle frame only to see O’Dea equalize in the latter stages of the stanza to level the affair heading to the third.

A.J. Rupert notched the eventual game-winner for Minnesota 52 seconds into the final stanza while O’Dea iced it in the late going to secure the triumph for the visitors.

Shots on goal favoured the visitors by a large margin, 55-22, with Adam Ranck picking up the victory and P.D. Melgoza making 50 stops in defeat.
