Iron Rangers’ O’Dea named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions player of the week
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Minnesota Iron Rangers forward Matt O’Dea has been named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Feb. 22.
In three games last week the 20-year-old native of Chicago, Ill., had points in each of them helping the Iron Rangers sweep a three-game set vs. the Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
O’Dea began be assisting on the game-winning goal in a 3-2 overtime triumph over Dryden Thursday.
Friday evening he tallied twice and set-up another in Minnesota’s 8-4 victory over the GM Ice Dogs.
He then capped off his impressive week by notching two more markers before notching the only goal in the shootout as the Iron Rangers skated to a 4-3 decision Saturday at Hoyt Lakes Arena.
O’Dea is currently riding a nine-game point streak where he has scored eight times and doled out six assists during that span.
Overall he enters play this week ninth in SIJHL scoring with 49 points in 41 outings, including 26 goals, which ties him for third overall in the league in that category.
