Lakers remain 9th in CJHL rankings

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Fresh off capturing their second consecutive regular season title in the Superior International Junior Hockey League over the weekend, the Fort Frances Lakers have maintained their place in the latest Canadian Junior Hockey League Pointstreak Top 20 rankings announced Monday.

Fort Frances remained ninth in the CJHL listings for another week, which are produced in conjunction with International Scouting Services.

The Lakers have clinched first place in the SIJHL standings with their 37-9-0-1 record guaranteeing the club the No. 1 seed in the upcoming SIJHL playoffs.

Fort Frances will also serve as the host team for the 2015 Dudley-Hewitt Cup Central Canada Jr. A Championship April 28 through May 2 at Ice for Kids Arena.

There was no change among the top two sides in the CJHL this week with the 2015 RBC Cup host Portage Terriers (MJHL) once again holding down the No. 1 ranking followed by the Spruce Grove Saints (AJHL) at No. 2.

Moving up to No. 3 is the Aurora Tigers (OJHL), who capped off their weekly efforts by capturing the Ontario Junior Hockey League regular season crown Saturday.

Along with Fort Frances and Aurora, there are six other clubs in the rankings, from the OJHL and NOJHL, which are Dudley-Hewitt Cup eligible.
