GM Ice Dogs’ Golka named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions player of the week
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced today that Dryden GM Ice Dogs forward Cole Golka has been named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Feb. 1.
In three games this past week the 20-year-old Strathcona County, Alta., product amassed seven points on two goals and five assists, including a game-winning marker.
Golka also notched the only goal in a shootout as Dryden rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat Minnesota at the SIJHL Showcase in Hoyt Lakes.
On the season the GM Ice Dogs standout tops the league in tallies (39), points (69) and is also knotted for the SIJHL in game-winning goals with five.
This marks the third time this season that Golka has garnered SIJHL player of the week laurels.
