English River doubles up Minnesota 6-3

EAR FALLS, Ont. – Dominic Blouin and Taylor Bargar had a goal and an assist each to help the English River Miners double up the visiting Minnesota Iron Rangers 6-3 Friday in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Ear Falls Arena.

Each side would find the back of the net once in the opening frame Eric Champagne notching his team-leading 14th of the campaign for the Miners and Seth Chumley countering for the Iron Rangers.

The home side took control of the contest scoring four times and spelling an end to Minnesota starter Kyle Carignan’s night.

Bargar was the first to act 94 seconds into the stanza followed by Aaron Balcombe, Blouin and Hank Bouchard.

The Iron Rangers mounted a comeback in the third on tallies Chumley and A.J. Rupert before Ryker Moreau iced for English River with an insurance marker in the late going to round out the scoring.

Greg Harney made 29 saves to register the win for the Miners while Carignan had 22 stops in defeat.

With the decision English River raises their record to 3-11-0-2 while the suddenly slumping Iron Rangers dropped their sixth straight falling to 6-6-0-2 overall.
