Dryden’s Golka named Gongshow Gear performer of the month
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Dryden GM Ice Dogs forward Cole Golka has been named the opening Gongshow Gear performer of the month award recipient for the 2014-15 campaign.
This honour encompasses October as well as the last two weeks of September, which coincided with the start of the SIJHL’s regular season.
In 15 games during the time frame of the award, the 19-year-old Strathcona County, Alta., product was impressive for his new club as he made his SIJHL debut.
In all, Golka scored 15 times, including a stretch that saw him notch goals in seven consecutive contests, as well as register 10 assists.
He leads all SIJHL skaters in tallies and points and is presently riding an eight-game point streak in which he has amassed 11 markers and chipped in with seven helpers.
For his efforts Golka will receive a prize pack courtesy of Gongshow Gear, the official lifestyle hockey apparel of the SIJHL.
Also garnering consideration for the SIJHL’s Gongshow Gear performer of the month award was Colton Spicer, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Ryan Walsh, (D) Thunder Bay North Stars; Jason Reynolds, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers and Eric Champagne, (F) English River Miners.
