FORT FRANCES, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs trio of Eric Stout, Trygve Many Guns and Cameron Coutre combined for eight points as they went on to handle the Fort Frances Lakers 9-2 in Superior International Junior Hockey League matinee Sunday afternoon at Ice for Kids Arena.
Fort Frances did score first in this one, nearly seven minutes into the contest, as Jaedin Ness converted on a breakaway.
However, the GM Ice Dogs came back by striking three times before the first frame was complete on a pair of tallies from Stout and a single off the stick of Kevin Parra Vaughan.
Dryden then tacked on three more in the middle session to extend the cushion as Coutre, Jacob Siebenga and Rayman Bassi all found the back of the net.
Anthony Antonelli got one back for the Lakers during a man advantage chance in the back half of the frame to make 6-2 after 40 minutes.
Action in the third saw the visitors put the game away on markers from Malcom Huemmert, Coutre and Tyler Browning to secure the victory.
Many Guns finished with three helpers in the triumph while Stout’s two-goal, one-assist performance saw him extend a consecutive game point streak to 12 straight outings.
Shots on goal also favoured Dryden, 57-20, with Jordan Wilde picking up the win while Matt Booth was saddled with the setback.
