3-point night for Ramirez as Iron Rangers edge GM Ice Dogs 4-3

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – The Minnesota Iron Rangers got a pair of goals, including the game-winner, and an assist from Austin Ramirez as to help them edge the Dryden GM Ice Dogs 4-3 in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up Friday at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

Minnesota got off to a good start as they grabbed a 2-0 lead after one period of play on markers by Ramirez and John Cuni.

Dryden got one back with the lone tally of the middle stanza as Nic Noseworthy connected for his 23rd of the season at 10:49.

Jake Ellingson put the home side up by two 84 seconds into the third before Karsen Szczecinski brought the visitors back to within one at 4:56 on a man advantage opportunity.

Ramirez then picked up the eventual difference maker with 8:33 remaining as the Iron Rangers forward collected his second of the night and 13th overall.

Dryden kept battling back and were rewarded with a man advantage marker courtesy of Troy Williams’ 17th at 16:41 in what turned out to be the final goal of the evening.

Cuni and Tristyn Sabina had two assists apiece for Minnesota to aid their cause.

Anthony Pupplo made 29 stops to record the win for the Iron Rangers while Taylor Unruh faced 39 shots in defeat for Dryden.
