Trio of SIJHL clubs tabbed in CJHL rankings

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – A trio of Superior International Junior Hockey League teams has earned mention in the latest Canadian Junior Hockey League rankings announced Monday.

Slotted in fifth overall were the SIJHL-leading Fort Frances Lakers while the Thunder Bay North Stars come in at No. 13 and the Minnesota Iron Rangers garnering honourable mention status in the rankings, which are compiled each week in conjunction with NHL Central Scouting.

Fort Frances continues to lead the SIJHL standings with 48 followed by Minnesota at 39 and Thunder Bay with 38.

The Lakers are 23-3-0-2 overall while the Iron Rangers sit at 18-8-1-2 and the North Stars are 17-5-1-3 with the latter holding three games in hand on Minnesota and two on Fort Frances.

In terms of winning percentage the Lakers are tops at .857 followed by Thunder Bay at .731 and Minnesota at .672.

Two of those teams will tangle tonight as the North Stars travel to Fort Frances to take on the SIJHL front runners in a 7:30 p.m. start at Ice for Kids Arena.

There was no change this week among the top four clubs in the CJHL rankings with Spruce Grove, (AJHL) Carleton Place, (CCHL), Fort McMurray, (AJHL) and Sault Ste. Marie, (NOJHL) holding down those spots respectively.
