SIJHL announces Thunder Bay – English River playoff series schedule
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Friday the game schedule for the upcoming first round playoff match-up between the No. 4 seed Thunder Bay North Stars and No. 5 English River Miners
This best-of-five affair will get underway Tuesday in Thunder Bay and will feature a 7:30 p.m. start at the Fort William Gardens.
Game 2 goes Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. back at the Gardens.
Ear Falls Arena will serve as the venue for Game 3, which goes Friday, March 20 at 7 p.m.
If necessary, Game 4 will be played Saturday, March 21 back in Ear Falls at 7 p.m.
Should the series go the distance, a fifth and deciding contest is presently scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Gardens in Thunder Bay.
The winner will meet the No. 1 seeded Fort Frances Lakers in one league best-of-seven semifinal.
The other semifinal match-up features the Minnesota Iron Rangers and Dryden GM Ice Dogs with home ice in that best-of-seven set still to be determined.
SIJHL regular season play concludes this weekend starting with Thunder Bay hosting Minnesota tonight at the Gardens at 7:30 p.m.
A win by the Iron Rangers will secure the No. 2 seed.
Dryden, who trail Minnesota by one point in the standings, will need a North Stars victory this evening as well as one of their own Saturday in the regular season finale in Ear Falls vs. the Miners to secure home ice. That contest begins at 7 p.m.
One other SIJHL contest Friday sees Fort Frances at home to English River in a 7:30 p.m. start at Ice for Kids Arena.
