THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Red Lake Miners rookie forward Jordan Baranesky has been selected its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 19.
In two outings during the time frame, the 18-year-old, who skates for his hometown Red Lake side, racked up five goals, including a game-winner, as the Miners skated to a pair of victories.
Baranesky began by tallying twice, that featured the winning marker, in a triumph over Dryden this past Tuesday.
Two nights later he registered his first SIJHL hat trick as Red Lake defeated visiting Thief River Falls.
With six goals in his past three outings and 12 in his previous nine, Baranesky now sits second in markers among league rookies and fifth amid all SIJHL skaters with 19.
