Power outage causes suspension of North Stars – GM Ice Dogs Game 3
Final 16:05 to be played Friday prior to Game 4 in Thunder Bay
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – A power outage that knocked out the lights at the Fort William Gardens and surrounding area Thursday has caused Game 3 between the Thunder Bay North Stars and Dryden GM Ice Dogs to be suspended and will now be played out Friday starting at 7:30 p.m. prior to the start of Game 4 of the series in Thunder Bay.
When play resumes Friday, there will be 16:05 remaining in the third period with the North Stars holding onto a 3-2 lead.
Once Game 3 comes to a close, the ice will be resurfaced and Game 4 will then begin at the Gardens.
Prior to the power going out in Thunder Bay, the North Stars got goals from Joe Newhouse, Charlie Corness and Kris Hamlin.
Scoring for Dryden were Nic Noseworthy and Kyle Pouncy.
Dryden leads the best-of-seven series 2-0 pending the outcome of Game 3.
The winner of the series will meet the Fort Frances Lakers in the SIJHL Bill Salonen Cup final.
Fort Frances advanced to the league championship series for a fifth consecutive year after completing a four-game sweep of the English River Miners following a 6-3 victory Thursday at Cochenour Arena.
Any fans holding tickets to Thursday’s game will be given a complimentary ticket to the North Stars 2016-17 season opener.
