North Stars wrap-up road trip with win vs. Iron Rangers

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – The Thunder Bay North Stars capped off a three-game weekend road trip with a third straight victory Sunday by topping the Minnesota Iron Rangers 4-1 at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

Thunder Bay gained the upper hand in the first period as they tallied twice on markers from Robert Tyska and Jacob Brown.

The North Stars added to their lead 17:51 into the middle stanza as Keighan Gerrie collected his 35th goal of the season.

Minnesota got on the board in the final moments of the second when Joshua Baker and Joe Lech combined to set-up Nathan Coldagelli for his first SIJHL marker.

The score stayed that way until the late going of regulation when Ben Erwin sealed the win by putting one into an empty netter with 13 seconds remaining.

Thunder Bay out shot the Iron Rangers 51-26 with Brock Aiken picking up the win while Synjen Amende suffered the loss.
