Miner’s Harney named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions player of the week
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League has announced that English River Miners goaltender Greg Harney has been named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Jan. 4.
In his lone start of the week the 19-year-old native of East Haven, Conn., made 41 saves to backstop English River to a 3-1 victory over the Thunder Bay North Stars in each club’s first game of 2015.
This marked the sixth time this season Harney has made over 40 stops in a contest.
He currently leads all SIJHL netminders in saves with 843 and minutes played at just under 1,400.
Also receiving consideration for the SIJHL Amyotte’s player of the week was: Nathan Park, (G) Fort Frances Lakers; Brandon Wolframe, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars and Tate Sproxton, (G) Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
Note: The Minnesota Iron Rangers did not play last week, thus did not have a nominee.
