Madison hat trick leads Iron Rangers past Miners

EAR FALLS, Ont. – Eric Madison scored three times to help lead the Minnesota Iron Rangers to a 5-1 victory over the Englihs River Miners Friday evening in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Ear Falls Arena.

The visiting Iron Rangers took control early jumping out to a 3-0 lead after one period of play on markers by Seth Chumley, Madison and Alex Arnold.

English River notched the lone tally of the middle stanza as Alex Maticic fired in his eighth of the season at 11:43.

Minnesota put the game away in the final frame however as Madison connected twice to finish off his hat trick.

Max Seiter also chipped in offensively for the winners by doling out three assists on the night.

The Iron Rangers carried a wide margin in shots on goal by a 52-26 count with Kyle Carignan picking up the win and Greg Harney making 47 stops in defeat for the Miners.
