Lakers rally late to edge Iron Rangers

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – The Fort Frances Lakers scored three times in the games’ final 10 minutes to rally for a 4-3 come from behind victory over the Minnesota Iron Rangers Tuesday evening in Superior International Junior Hockey League exhibition action at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

After a scoreless opening period the visiting Lakers notched the lone tally of the middle stanza as Aaron Wesley-Chisel connected on the power play at 4:17.

After that the final frame turned out to be a goal-filled affair with Minnesota erupting for a trio of strikes to go up 3-1.

The home side pulled even in the first minute courtesy of a Jason Reynolds man advantage effort at the 41-second mark.

The Iron Rangers then went in front thanks to Evan Erickson at 3:39 and Seth Chumley midway through the session.

Fort Frances would pull within one at 11:10 when Mason Meyer finished off the work of Nic Proulx and Nick Sherbinin.

Making use of a seven-minute power opportunity the Lakers tied it at 13:53 thanks to Bryson Jasper then got the game-winner from Alex Rezansoff with 2:35 to go to complete the rally.
