Lakers’ Joseph earns honourable mention for CJHL 3 stars of the month

CALGARY, Alta. – Fort Frances Lakers goaltender Talor Joseph of the Superior International Junior Hockey League earned honourable mention laurels in the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s 3 stars of the month for Februay the CJHL announced today.

Joseph was a perfect 7-0 in game action during the month that was in helping Fort Frances secure the No. 2 overall seed in the upcoming SIJHL playoffs.

The following are the recipients of the CJHL 3 Stars of the month for February.

1st STAR – KYLE MORRISON, Forward, Truro Bearcats, Maritime Hockey League (8GP, 9 G, 15 A, 24 PTS)
During the month of February, Morrison averaged 3 points per game on 9 goals and 15 assists for 24 points. In those 8 games, Morrison was awarded three first stars and three second stars of the game. During the Bearcat’s 6-1-1 stretch, Morrison earned points in every game with two 5 point efforts in a row and three 3 point games in row. He currently leads his team with 85 points in 49 games and sits on top of the MHL scoring race.

2nd STAR – JOSH MONK, Defence, West Kelowna Warriors, British Columbia Hockey League (8 GP, 4 G, 9 A, 13 PTS)
Monk led all BCHL blueliners in scoring for the month of the February with 4 goals and 9 assists and had points in seven of the eight February games he played.  His strong performance helped the Warriors to a 7-1-1 mark for the month, giving them a shot at second place and home-ice advantage in the BCHL’s Interior Division playoffs.  During the Warriors’ 7-1-1 stretch, Monk was a key reason why the Warriors allowed just 18 goals in those eight contests.

3rd STAR – MATT HRYNKIW, Goaltender, Humboldt Broncos, Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (7 GP, 5 W, 2 L, 1.42 GAA, .946%)
Hrynkiw posted a 5-2 record on the strength of a 1.42 goals-against-average and a .946 save percentage.  To start the month he posted a shutout against the Flin Flon Bombers and then proceeded to surrender just two or fewer goals in five of his next six starts. He comes out of the month of February with a league best 1.83 goals-against-average and .939 save percentage and a league high six shutouts.
