Lakers’ DeBenedet named Gongshow Gear performer of the month
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League Tuesday that Fort Frances Lakers forward Lucas DeBenedet has been named the Gongshow Gear performer of the month award recipient for January
In nine games in the first month of 2015, the 19-year-old native of International Falls, Minn., amassed 17 points on six goals and 11 assists helping the league-leading Lakers post a solid 8-1 record in January.
Six of his outings were multi-point efforts and he also notched one game-winning goal while also setting-up three others.
Since rejoining Fort Frances back on Nov. 1 DeBenedet has helped the Lakers go 20-3 by scoring 14 times and doling out 23 helpers.
For his efforts DeBenedet will receive a prize pack courtesy of Gongshow Gear, the official lifestyle hockey apparel of the SIJHL.
Also garnering consideration for the SIJHL’s Gongshow Gear performer of the month award was Cole Golka, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Tim Cavar, (D) Thunder Bay North Stars; Jason Reynolds, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers and Dominc Blouin, (F) English River Miners.
