Iron Rangers edge Miners 2-1

EAR FALLS, Ont. – A Drew Millis goal two minutes into the third period proved to be the difference as the Minnesota Iron Rangers edged the English River Miners 2-1 Saturday in a tightly-contest Superior International Junior Hockey League contest at Ear Falls Arena.

English River opened the scoring 4:11 into the opening stanza as Jake Staples notched his fourth of the campaign and extended a consecutive game point streak to eight.

Minnesota’s Jason Reynolds tied it at 13:37 as he struck shorthanded to knot the affair at 1-1 through 20 minutes of play.

After a scoreless second session, Millis won it early in the third with the eventual game-winner as the Iron Rangers snapped a six-game winless drought.

Adam Ranck made 20 stops to record the win for Minnesota while Greg Harney kept his side in it making 41 saves in defeat for the Miners.
