Iron Rangers’ Carignan named SIJHL player of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. –  The Superior International Junior Hockey League has announced its most latest player of the week award recipient is Minnesota Iron Rangers goaltender Kyle Carignan.

Carignan was recognized for the weekly period ending Oct. 5 as the first-year netminder made his SIJHL debut and helped backstop the Iron Rangers to a pair of victories.

The 18-year-old, who hails from Oregon, Wis., began by making 28 stops in a 5-3 road triumph over Thunder Bay on Oct. 1.

He then followed that up Oct. 4 by turning aside all 26 shots fired his way in blanking Dryden 5-0.

Also receiving consideration for the SIJHL player of the week were: Ryan Ferguson, (G) Fort Frances Lakers, Brandon Wolframe, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars, Troy Williams, (D) Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Eric Champagne, (F) English River Miners.
