Sioux Lookout, ON. Game two of the “Battle of 72” saw end-to-end action for 60 straight minutes. The Dryden GM Ice Dogs skated away with the victory after completing the comeback from a 3-0 deficit. The Hangar was once again filled to near capacity with 542 fans through the gate. Fans were also treated to mini-games during the intermissions featuring members of the Sioux Lookout Jr. Bombers U11AA and U13AA teams as part of Minor Hockey Night festivities.
Sioux Lookout scored first with Alex Lucas tapping in a centering pass from Lucas Trimarchi at 4:35 of the first. Late in the first, Jack Hale would pick up a loose puck and send it past the Dryden netminder Eric Clark at 18:22. The Bombers would go into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.
The second period would start off with a bang as Ty Lone would score an absolute highlight reel goal (See Bombers’ Facebook or Instagram) on a great individual effort. That would chase Clark, the Ice Dogs’ starting goaltender and bring Zac MacDonald in relief.
Dryden GM would find their way back into the game with a trio of power play goals from Easton Debray at 11:28 of the second, Ben Hackl about 4 minutes later, and Max Roby two minutes into the third. Roby would get his second of the contest at 8:09 that would stand up as the game winner.
Jake Manners went the distance for Sioux Lookout seeing 45 shots and saving 41 of them. In the Dryden net Clark had 14 saves before being pulled and Zac McDonald was a perfect 14 of 14 in a winning effort.
As a result of the game, Dryden moves to 9-4-0 for 18 points and a tie for 3rd, the Bombers are 8-4-2 for 16 points and sit in 5th.
The Dryden GM Ice Dogs will drive back home for a matchup against the Wisconsin Lumberjacks today.
The Sioux Lookout Bombers will visit Red Lake to square off against the Miners for the next two Wednesdays, they will be back at the Hangar on November 30th for the Movember Foundation Mental Health Awareness game which will be played against the Thunder Bay North Stars.
