Ice Dogs edge Miners

DRYDEN, Ont. – Cole Golka had a pair of goals to help lift the Dryden GM Ice Dogs to a 3-2 victory over the English River Miners in Superior International Junior Hockey League play Friday at Memorial Arena.

Special teams allowed the Miners to take the lead in this one as Eric Champagne connected on the power play six minutes into the contest.

Golka pulled the GM Ice Dogs back to level with his first of the night at 16:13.

Dryden took the lead for good in the middle session notching tallies a couple shifts apart from Golka and Cody Kaus.

English River added another during a man advantage with just over a minute remaining in the contest, but could get no closer as time expired.

Chase Gorman made 32 stops to pick up the win for the home side while Greg Harney suffered the defeat making 36 stops.
