Houston highlights GM Ice Dogs triumph over Iron Rangers

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs got a goal and two assists from Matt Houston to help them earn a 3-1 decision over the Minnesota Iron Rangers Friday evening in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at Memorial Arena.

Houston’s 15th of the season staked Dryden to the lead as he opened the scoring at 4:11.

He then combined with Derek McPhail to set-up to feed Kyle Pouncy 10 and a half minutes later as the GM Ice Dogs took a two-tally lead into the second stanza.

Dryden added another late in the middle session Houston supplying the helper on Braedyn Aubin’s 14th goal of the campaign.

Minnesota would dash Taylor Unruh’s shutout bid with just over five minutes remaining in regulation as Gus Karkinen finished off the night’s scoring with his 10th overall for the Iron Rangers.

Unruh finished with 25 stops to post the victory for Dryden.

Anthony Pupplo saw 36 pucks put his way in defeat for Minnesota.
