Golka sets Ice Dogs record for points in a season

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – With a three-goal, two-assist performance in a win Wednesday over the English River Miners in Superior International Junior Hockey League play, Dryden GM Ice Dogs forward Cole Golka has set a new club record for points in one season with 87, surpassing the 85 Nicolas Doiron registered for Dryden back in 2007-08.

Golka, who earlier established a franchise mark for goals in a season, which now stands at 46, with one game remaining now has a Dryden-best 86 points in his first year with the club.

He currently leads all SIJHL skaters in both goals and points with the 46 and 87 respectively.

Along with Golka and Doiron, Steve Bunney is the only other Ice Dogs player to surpass the 80-point plateau in one campaign. Bunney had 81 points for Dryden back in 2002-03.

Of note, a three-point night for Dryden forward Jonathon Philley in the same contest vs. the Miners, gives him 72 on the season, which is the eighth highest total in one season by an Ice Dogs player.

The following is the top 10 list of Dryden single-season point leaders:
