GM Ice Dogs complete weekend sweep of Norskies

DRYDEN, Ont. – Cameron Coutre collected a pair of goals, while Braden Shea scored once and added two assists as the Dryden GM Ice Dogs defeated the Thief River Falls Norskies 5-1 in Superior International Junior Hockey League action Sunday afternoon at Memorial Arena.

After winning by an identical score Saturday against the Norskies, the GM Ice Dogs got going early in the second stanza following a scoreless first frame.

In that middle session, Coutre got Dryden going 53 seconds into the frame before teammate Trygve Many Guns made it 2-0, two minutes later ,as he picked up his 20th tally of the season.

Going to the power play, the home side added to their lead at 8:59 with Ryan Brandt putting the GM Ice Dogs up by three.

Picking up a man advantage themselves late in the period, Boe Bjorge put the visitors on the board as he notched his 30th goal of 2018-19.

However, Dryden came back a couple shifts later to restore their cushion on a Coutre effort.

Shea then helped secure the victory 5:54 into the third to round out the scoring.

Jacob Anthony made 48 saves to earn the win for the GM Ice Dogs while Fletcher Bolda was peppered with 62 shots against in defeat for Thief River Falls.
