Fort Frances tames Minnesota 4-1

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – Dylan Robertson tallied twice and added an assist to help lead the Fort Frances Lakers to a 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Iron Rangers 4-1 Saturday in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up at Ice for Kids Arena.

Fort Frances picked up the lone goal of the opening period as Mason Meyer connected on the power play at 10:48 as Mason Meyer finished off a feed from Lucas DeBenedet for his 24th tally of the season.

Robertson made it 2-0 Lakers after 40 minutes as he picked up his first of the night near the seven-minute mark of the stanza.

Minnesota got on the board 51 seconds into the third courtesy of Matt O’Dea’s 22nd goal of the season, which also extended a consecutive game point streak to six in succession.

Fort Frances answered right back on the next shift as Robertson scored again making it 3-1 at 1:22.

He then set-up Wyatt Cota for the final marker of the night midway through the period to conclude things offensively.

Carter Chorney chipped in with three assists for the winning side in the contest.

Nathan Park made 19 saves to earn the win for the Lakers who put 30 shots on former Fort Frances goaltender Devin Tappenden who suffered the loss.
