Dryden rolls over English River

DRYDEN, Ont. – Jon Philley scored three times and added two assists while Cole Golka notched a hat trick and set-up one more as the Dryden GM Ice Dogs pounded the English River Miners 10-1 in a Superior International Junior Hockey League encounter Saturday evening at Memorial Arena.

Golka had two of his markers in the opening 20 minutes to send Dryden on their way.

After Dominic Blouin pulled the Miners to within one early in the second, the Ice Dogs pulled away with four unanswered goals to lead 6-1 through two periods of play.

Blake Berg, Ryan Scott along with two by Philley accounted for the Dryden contributers in the middle session.

They then put the game away in the final frame adding four more to complete the rout.

Golka, Matt Houston, Drew Walske and Philley added those efforts in the third.

Chris Sitko also chipped in with four assists to aid Dryden offensively.

Shots on goal favoured the GM Ice Dogs 56-23 with Tate Sproxton picking up the win.

P.D. Melgoza started for English River and suffered the loss allowing six against in 33 minutes of work while Jesse Fontaine gave up four on 27 attempts in relief.
