Dryden doubles up Thunder Bay 6-3

THUNDER BAY, Ont. –  The Dryden GM Ice Dogs used a well-balanced attack getting goals from six different skaters to help them double up the Thunder Bay North Stars 6-3 Friday evening in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at the Fort William Gardens.

Each side would score once in the opening 20 minutes with Nic Noseworthy’s ninth giving the visitors the lead with a power play marker at 14:18.

Nicholas Nigro tied it with his team-leading 11th of the campaign with a minute to go in the frame.

Dryden regained the lead 33 seconds into the middle frame thanks to Tanner Watt while teammate Braeden Alkins made it 3-1 at 11:53.

Brad Arabia brought Thunder Bay closer with a power play goal at 18:25 to make it a 3-2 game after 40 minutes.

Up a man, the GM Ice Dogs extended the cushion 68 seconds into the third with Troy Williams supplying his eighth overall.

Avery Siau had another on the power play for the North Stars five minutes into the session, but Dryden put the game away with a Braedyn Aubin power play effort at 9:02 before Troy Williams iced it with an empty netter from long range with 27 seconds left to round out the scoring.

Woody Galbraith picked up two assists to aid the winner’s cause while Aaron Wesley-Chisel had a couple of helpers in defeat for the North Stars.

The GM Ice Dogs outshot their opponents 44-22 on the night with Taylor Unruh picking up the win and Riley Corbin the loss.
