Cota & Park lift Lakers past Miners
FORT FRANCES, Ont. – Wyatt Cota had a third period natural hat trick while Nathan Park made 25 saves for his league-leading third shutout of the season as the Fort Frances Lakers blanked the English River Miners 4-0 Friday in a Superior International Junior Hockey League contest at Ice for Kids Arena.
After a scoreless opening period, Matt Vela notched the eventual game-winner four and a half minutes into the middle stanza.
In the final frame, Cota connected three times in a span of 15 minutes to finish off the scoring.
Cota now has 28 goals to his credit and will enter the postseason riding a six-gma epoint streak.
Greg Harney faced 41 shots in defeat for English River.
The SIJHL regular season will conclude Saturday evening in Ear Falls as the Miners host the Dryden GM Ice Dogs at 7 p.m.
