Bowey & Bolda lead Norskies over Iron Rangers

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – Thief River Falls Norskies defenceman Connor Bowey tallied twice and added a pair of assists while goaltender Fletcher Bolda turned aside all 24 shots he faced to post the shutout to help lead their side to a 7-0 victory over the Minnesota Iron Rangers in Superior International Junior Hockey League play Saturday at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Bowey’s big night began 42 seconds after the opening faceoff as his seventh marker of the season proved to be the eventual game-winner.

Alec Daman and Brett Piper added later markers for Thief River Falls in the first period as the duo both reached the 20-goal plateau on the season.

Moving on to the middle stanza, Bowey added another one early before helping set-up Owen Lee for a pair of goals to make it 6-0 after 40 minutes.

Daman then finished things off offensively late in the contest with his second of the evening as the Norskies won going away.

Blake Nelson and Boe Bjorge chipped in with three assists each to aid the Thief River Falls cause.

Iron Rangers goaltender Nick Corneliusen faced 50 shots against in defeat for Minnesota.

The SIJHL will now gear up for its annual Showcase, which features all six SIJHL clubs in action, Jan. 29-30 at Hoyt Lakes Arena.
