Belisle leads North Stars past Miners

THUNDER BAY, Ont. –  Bradley Belisle tallied twice and added an assist to lead the Thunder Bay North Stars to a 5-1 victory over the English River Miners Tuesday evening in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up at the Fort William Gardens.

Belisle opened the scoring for Thunder Bay 9:09 into the contest only to see Ryker Moreau notch the equalizer for English River two and a half minutes later during a man advantage opportunity.

The North Stars then took control of the game with a four-goal second period.

Matthias Gardiman and Cashen Tighe tacked on markers 26 seconds apart to make it 3-1 before Avery Siau and Belisle finished off the offensive outburst and round out the scoring.

Brandon Wolframe and Daniel McKitrick both picked up two assists apiece in the triumph.

Nathaniel Dupuis made 37 saves to record the decision for Thunder Bay while Greg Harney faced 40 shots in defeat for the Miners.

Both teams return to game action Wednesday as English River hosts the Dryden GM Ice Dogs at 7 p.m. in Ear Falls while the North Stars will be back on Gardens ice as they welcome the league-leading Fort Frances Lakers at 7:30 p.m.
