Anderson OT hero as Iron Rangers edged Ice Dogs

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – A Noah Anderson goal 2:44 into overtime lifted the Minnesota Iron Rangers to a 3-2 triumph over the Dryden GM Ice Dogs Thursday in a Superior International Junior Hockey League contest at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

The two sides traded tallies in the opening 20 minutes with Max Seiter getting Minnesota on the board at 15:35 only to see Derek McPhail tie it for Dryden with 45 seconds left in the first period.

Thomas Fazio put the Iron Rangers up 2-1 2:22 into the second for the only marker of the stanza.

The Ice Dogs forced extra time seven and a half minutes into the third when Nick Prouty knocked in his fourth of the campaign.

Midway through OT Anderson won it for Minnesota to give his side the extra point on the night with the game-winner as Evan Erickson and Matt O’Dea drew assists on the play.

Shots on goal on the night favoured the Iron Rangers 35-33 with Devin Tappenden picking up the win and Chase Gorman the OT defeat in which his side salvaged a point.
