Norskies’ Bowey named SIJHL Player of the Week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Thief River Falls Norskies defenceman Connor Bowey has been named its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 18.

In two games last week the 20-year-old Bowey, who hails from Winnipeg, Man., collected five points in total from the back end helping the Norskies take a pair of road contests vs. the rival Minnesota Iron Rangers.

The Thief River Falls rearguard began by scoring his second goal of the season and adding a pair of assists Friday then followed that up with two more helpers in another triumph Saturday.

With points in three straight contests, Bowey is playing at close to a point-per-game pace for the Norskies with 10 in 11 outings.

The SIJHL all-star enters play this week fifth in scoring among league blueliners.

Also earning consideration for player of the week honours was Joel Willan, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Shaye Sommerfeld, (F) Red Lake Miners; Nick Hahkala, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Eric Stout, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; and Joshua Baker, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
