The 2024 Bill Salonen Cup finals opponents were determined last night, Thursday April 11.
The reigning champion Kam River Fighting Walleye continue their mission to repeat, with another 4-game sweep, this time dispatching the Red Lake Miners in straight games and running their 2024 playoff record to 8-0 after sweeping the Kenora Islanders out of the playoffs earlier this month.
The regular-season runner-up Sioux Lookout Bombers have been nearly as impressive, following up an opening round sweep of Fort Frances and only needing only one game over the minimum to end the Thunder Bay North Stars’ season in round 2.
It will be the first-ever meeting of the clubs in the playoffs.
Action will get underway Wednesday night, April 17, 7:05 pm at Norwest Arena in Oliver Paipoonge. Game two will be a night later.
The series will shift to Sioux Lookout on Saturday and Sunday for games 3 and 4 respectively.

The series winner will be crowned 2024 Bill Salonen Cup Champions, and move on to represent the SIJHL a the of the best-of-7 semifinal series’ will meet in the 2024 Bill Salonen Cup Championship final where the victor will earn entry into the CJHL Centennial Cup National Junior A Hockey Championships taking place in Oakville, ON beginning Thursday May 9.
