2 each for Reynolds and Millis as Minnesota tops Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Jason Reynolds and Drew Millis both tallied twice to help the Minnesota Iron Rangers rally from an early two-goal deficit to defeat the Thunder Bay North Stars 5-3 Wednesday evening in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at the Fort William Gardens.

Nick Nigro and Cashen Tighe put the North Stars up a pair in the first period in their home opener only to see Reynolds connect on the power play at 16:41 to make 2-1 after 20 minutes.

Reynolds added his second of the evening early in the middle stanza, but Kris Kellaway put Thunder Bay back on top at 5:11.

Alex Arnold would level the proceedings for Minnesota midway through the contest and the visitors went in front for good at 15:48 when Millis struck during an Iron Rangers man advantage.

Millis then added some third period insurance with 11:11 to go to round out the night’s scoring.

A.J. Rupert had a pair of assists to aid the offensive cause for the winners.

Shots on goal favoured Minnesota 39-31 as Kyle Carignan picked up the win while Eric Mann suffered the loss.

SIJHL action continues Friday as Fort Frances hosts Dryden at Ice for Kids Arena and the North Stars entertain the English River Miners at the Fort William Gardens in a pair of 7:30 p.m. local time starts.
