Thunder Bay and English River victorious Tuesday

THUNDER BAY – A pair of Superior International Junior Hockey League games Tuesday saw the Thunder Bay North Stars and English River Miners both skate to victories.

THUNDER BAY NORTH STARS 6 MINNESOTA IRON RANGERS 4 – At the Fort William Gardens the North Stars got a hat-trick from rookie Daniel Delpaggio to help pace Thunder Bay past Minnesota.

Zach Grzelewski, Taylor Santorelli and Bryce Maggrah also found the back of the net while Tim Cavar dished out three assists.

Countering for the Iron Rangers were Trevor Hoth with two, A.J. Rupert and Tyler Tuneberg.

Jonathon Losurdo dished out three helpers for Minnesota.

Eric Mann was the winning goalkeeper while Alex Reichle started for the Rangers before Erick Majerle entered in relief midway through the contest.

Shots favoured Thunder Bay 32-31 on the night as they improved to 8-1-0-1 with the win. Minnesota slipped to 5-4-0-1 with the setback.

ENGLISH RIVER MINERS 6 DRYDEN ICE DOGS 5 – At Ear Falls the hometown Miners got a pair of tallies and two assists from Bryson Jasper and a goal and three helpers from Vincent Currao to lead English River past visiting Dryden.

John Morales chipped in with a marker and two helpers to also aid the Miners cause while Devan Vander Wyk and Kellen MacBlain supplied singles.

Dane Feeney scored once and set-up another for Dryden with Casey Prange, Mack Boyce, Tyson Holder and Zach Kercz adding solo efforts. Cody Kaus picked up two assists.

Dryden held the shots on goal edge 37-36 with P.D. Melgoza picking up the victory in net and Robert Kopytek-MacKenzie suffering the loss.

The Miners improved to 2-8-0-1 with the victory with the Ice Dogs sliding to 7-7.
