SIJHL announces 2014-15 schedule

THUNDER BAY, Ont. –  Superior International Junior Hockey League commissioner Bryan Graham announced Thursday the regular season schedule for the 2014-15 SIJHL campaign.

Opening night in the 2014-15 season is Friday, Sept. 19 and will feature a pair of contests.

The English River Miners will take on the Dryden Ice Dogs at 7 p.m. at Ear Falls Arena while the defending SIJHL champion Fort Frances Lakers will take on the Thunder Bay North Stars in a 7:30 p.m. start at Ice for Kids Arena.

English River and the Ice Dogs will finish off a home-and-home set on Saturday, Sept. 20 on the second night of the schedule as Dryden Memorial Arena will be the venue in a 7:30 p.m. start.

Action in the opening week of the season concludes on Sunday, Sept. 22 as Fort Frances travels to Hoyt Lakes, Minn., to take on the Minnesota Iron Rangers at 3 p.m. in a rematch of last season’s Bill Salonen Cup final won by the Lakers.

The league’s annual Showcase will be staged on Jan. 27-29, 2015 with the host of the event to be announced in the coming days.
