North Stars 9th, Iron Rangers honourable mention in CJHL rankings

CALGARY, Alta. – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced their latest edition of their weekly top 20 rankings Monday and a pair of Superior International Junior Hockey League clubs garnered recognition.

Unbeaten after three games with a 3-0 record, the Thunder Bay North Stars were tabbed ninth overall and the Minnesota Iron Rangers earned honourable mention status in the listings, which are compiled each week in conjunction with NHL Central Scouting.

For Thunder Bay they were ranked 13th in the CJHL preseason ratings while the Iron Rangers make their first-ever appearance overall. They are 2-1 early on this season with their only loss coming at the hands of the North Stars.

The AJHL’s Fort McMurray Oil Barons are the No. 1 ranked team in the CJHL this week followed by the Sherbrooke Cougars of Quebec in second and the La Ronge Ice Wolves of Saskatchewan holding down the No. 3 spot.

The CJHL Top 20 weekly rankings are based upon a variety of factors, including the league in which the team plays, winning percentage, win-loss record, total number of points accumulated, goals-for versus goals-against ratio, etc.
