Nathan Dann recorded his second hat trick of the weekend leading the Red Lake Miners to a 8-2 win over the Fort Frances Lakers.

For the second straight night at the Cochenour Arena the Red Lake Miners and the Fort Frances Lakers faced off in SIJHL action.  Gunner Paradis got the start in net for the Lakers while Ethan Neitsch got the start for the Miners.

After a penalty filled affair on Friday night it didn’t take long for Saturday to look like it would go in the same direction.  Gabe Tanton would open the scoring with a short handed tally at 3:24 his 3rd of the season.  After almost 50 minutes from puck drop the first period was finally over and the Miners led 1-0 on the scoreboard and 16-12 for shots.

Miners captain Luke DeCorby would put the Miners up 2-0 with his 5th of the season at 9:11 of the second.  Nathan Dann would score his 8th of the season on the power play at 17:02.  The Miners would take a 3-0 lead into the second period intermission and outshot the Lakers 19-8 in the second period.

The Miners kept rolling in the third period.  Goals from Nathan Dann(9) and Aiden Corbett’s 5th would put the Miners up 5-0 at 3:17.  Nathan Dann would complete the hat trick at 9:23 his 10th of the season.  Caige Starr got the Lakers on the board at 11:20 with his 2nd of the season but first as a Laker.  Hometown player Justin Gelderland scored his second of the season just 24 seconds later to restore the 6 goal lead.  Just under a minute later Cobe Delaney scored his 6th of the season to make it 7-2.  Ethan Cerone would finish the scoring off with his 3rd of the season.
