Miners Fight Cancer, Defeat Bombers On Family Day

Cochenour Ontario

The Red Lake Miners wore special pink jerseys to honour those who have fought cancer and those who continue to fight cancer for their Family Day matinee with the Sioux Lookout Bombers.

Matthew Spencer-Dahl got the star in net for the visitors while Noah Davis got the start for the home team.

Penalty trouble got the Miners in a hole early as Alex Lucas scored his 5th of the season at 6:49 followed by Nolan Plamer’s 7th of the season at 17:10.  Both those goals were power play markers.  At 17:35 Bradyn Rowsell scored his 4th of the season at 17:35 to get the Miners on the board.  The Bombers would take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Ethan Cerone scored his 10th of the season at 9:24 of the second to tie the game at 2.  There would be no further scoring in the second and the score remained 2-2 after 40 minutes of play.

The Miners got an early jump in the third period and took the lead at 1:09 courtesy of Blake Hiltermann’s 11th of the season.  Preston Tauter score on the power play at 11:32 for this 8th of the season and a 4-2 Miners lead.  Noah Davis kept the Bombers at bay for the rest of the way to pick up his 10th win of the season.
