Lakers team up with “Shine the Light Campaign”

FORT FRANCES, Ont. –– The Fort Frances Lakers of the SIJHL are pleased to announce that during their Saturday Nov. 1 home game vs. the Minnesota Iron Rangers their players will have purple tape on their sticks and socks to support the Shine the Light Campaign.

Lakers fans are urged to wear purple to the game as well in support of the campaign.

Please come out and show your support!

November is woman abuse awareness and prevention month in Ontario.

Shine the Light is a campaign that was initiated by the London Abused Women’s Centre.

Fort Frances will be one community of approximately 20 others from across Ontario that will be promoting the Shine the Light campaign.

The campaign’s signature colour is purple to represent courage, survival, and honour.

November 14th is Wear Purple Day.

The campaign in Fort Frances is being sponsored by Riverside Community Counselling Services.
